Things Cinema and TV students need ❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗ As a cinema and TV student at the University of Chile, I have to say that our department has a lot of things to change and develop to make our career and place of study an experience according to what we pay every month. Here, I’m going to try to cover some topics that most of us consider necessary: Equipment and infrastructure: It’s well known that audiovisual work requires the use of a lot of technology, from lights to cameras and even some real engineering artifacts. Nevertheless, our faculty barely counts with some of them, so we need more to develop the pertinent skills to manage them professionally. The infrastructure is also something that gives us a lot to desire. The buildings are old, and some of them are crumbling. We need safer and better infrastructure. Study program and system: I would say that this is the biggest problem in this career. The study prog...

Time travel to the future of course! As a time traveler that I already am, I suggest that if you have the chance to break time and space, you should travel to the future, of course! I don’t like to travel to the past because I don’t want to change the fragile line of events. What the movies say, it’s true. You can only be an expectator of your life when traveling to the past, and there’s always the chance to make a significant mistake. One day I went to the year 1367 (because I like that number and I was wondering if the french fries were invented or not) and I used a pencil to scratch my left ear, and that´s why the selfie stick existed. Yep, what a horrible mistake. I’m sorry. So go to the future. It’s so much better; you can do whatever you want without thinking so much about the consequences. That’s a problem for the people of the future to solve because you are changing their past. The only bad part of time travel to the future is that the farther I go in the future, t...

My dream job: As a cinema student, I would love to work on a big international production. It doesn’t matter in which country it would takes place; what matter’s the most to me is the work team. I dream about working with the people that I admire in the world of cinema, from actors, to directors and even music composers: Mads Mikkelsen, Wong Kar Wai, Sofía Coppola and Werner Herzog to mention some of them. You may wonder in which area? Well, in anyone, I could direct, write the script, or I could even just bring coffee to the table or scream when someone steps on the cables, but that doesn’t mean I don’t need experience, in fact, I need tons and tons of it to be even close to an instance like that. I need to have participated in many films and have very good contacts. I don’t know if I’m just that delusional, but I don’t need payment from that work. I think that the experience pays itself and the boost in my curriculum would be enough, but some money always helps, I ...

On October 2018 we went with my father and my sister to New York, for nine days. Yep, it was school season, so it was an even more magnificent incident. First, we arrived at the airport and went immediately for a walk in Central Park, We didn’t reach half of it and we didn’t find the zoo we were looking for, but it was a pretty funny experience still. On that week and a few days or so, we visited the Lego Factory, Wall Street, Chinatown, Koreatown, a lot of supermarkets (lol), The Rockefeller Center, The statue of Liberty, the World Trade Center, the Museum of Natural History, the Grand Central Terminal and we ate a lot of $1 pizza slices everywhere! But outside all of those places, our favorite was High Line, a really long park built over an abandoned railway between high buildings, filled with art and nature, if you go to New York, I seriously recommend it, it´s a fantastic place to get lost or to have fun with your relatives in a beautiful and unique space.

I WOULD LIKE TO VISIT HONG KONG!!! FIRST, before you say that Hong Kong isn´t a country, let me inform you that you probably shouldn´t say that or even better, you shouldn’t´ think it, the Hongkong people have been struggling with their independence for a pretty long time, either with England or China, so this is a very sensitive subject to them. Now that we have covered that important topic, you ...
